MEET CATRIN

Catrin started working in a café on weekends from the age of 13 and knew that hospitality was the career path she wanted to jump on. She left the UK and went and worked in Spain after finishing school in a bar and restaurant, and within 6 months progressed to manage the venue. Catrin then ventured a little further afield and headed to Australia to be part of the opening team as a shift Manager when ALH group opened the Belgium Beer Café in Perth. In 2003, she headed back to the UK and was licensee and Manager of a Gastro Pub in the heart of Greenwich. Gastro pubs soon became her passion, falling in love with the fresh food, guest beers, fine wine, and great service. Catrin was then transferred to a Gastro Pub in North London and within 12 months as Venue Manager the Venue was Runner up to a Gordon Ramsey venue as ‘Best Gastro Pub in London’ in 2004 by TimeOut. This was such a great achievement and a highlight of her career. In 2005, Catrin returned back to Perth and was appointed office manager for a Hospitality recruitment agency. In 2007, she started her own recruitment agency in Western Australia. Business was great, staffing 5 Star Hotels, Taverns, Aged Care facilities, and various events, allowing her to tour Australia with some great bands and artists like U2, ACDC and Taylor Swift to name a few. In 2016 Catrin ventured into a partnership with Jo, opening doors in Queensland for hospitality labour hire and training. Catrin now specialises in training hospitality candidates and ensuring every candidate has the right skills for the right venue. 

GET TO KNOW JO

Jo started in the hospitality industy when she was 21 as a bar attendnant at the Sheraton Mirage, Port Douglas, and was promoted to Banquet Supervisor within 2 years. Jo felt at home at The Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas and enjoyed the 4 years spent there, and this is where her passion for the hospitality and training industry grew from. After the Sheraton Mirage, Jo went on to work at the Shagri La Hotel in Cairns as Banquet Manager and Events Manager. She worked with the Shangri la Brand for 6 years, also going over to Fiji with the Company for 1 year as Banquet Manager. Jo later moved on to become the Food and Beverage Manager at the Palm Cove Hotel to broadened her skill set. She was then head-hunted by a Recruitment Company in Brisbane, that specialised in recruiting and training for the hospitality industry. It is from there that Jo joined ventres with Catrin in Platinum Staff and she hasn't looked back since!
